Ragged
Point Inn and Resort History
In the 1950’s, Wiley Ramey and
his wife, Mildred, were entranced by Ragged
Point’s rugged natural beauty while visiting the Central Coast. This magical
area, which was once part of the huge Hearst Ranch, immediately found a place
in their hearts. Finally, in 1961, they persuaded carnival owner, Monte Young,
to sell them his rustic outpost, which consisted of two gas pumps, a couple of
travel trailers, and a snack shack that sported a neon “EAT” sign.
Since that time, the Point has
been a labor of love for three generations of the Ramey family, as
they’ve gradually added every amenity to make Ragged Point the premier
resort on the south Big Sur coast and the perfect spot for your next
getaway.
